Topic 42: Presence of 20 out of 22 Shrutis in Ancient Musical Scales

Shrutis do not (and cannot) belong to one person.

They belong to every musician, every student, every teacher, and every performer in India. Actually, 20 of these were known in other civilizations for centuries! (Refer to following table)

Table shows the Ratios for 22 Indian Shrutis as seen in Pythagorean, Just Intonation, and Mesopotamian Scales.

Only R1 and M2 were not used in any of these scales.

The above table shows that many of the Shrutis are actually identical to the musical notes documented by the ancient Pythagorean, Mesopotamian and Just Intonation scales.
